Welcome to the first of a new kind of travel
site - the 123VOYAGE site on the South West of France, adjacent to the Pyrenees
mountains and the Atlantic ocean - one of the most beautiful regions in the
whole of Europe.
What is 123Voyage?
It is a kind of electronic newspaper/guide where we provide editorial about
an area and local people can advertise their products - hotels, other places to
stay,
local services and products. We aim to provide an electronic
marketplace on the Internet affordable to all. We have started with the South
West of France because it is an area we know and love, but who knows where it
will end...
Why 123?
Because 1 we provide information on the area; 2 where to stay and how
to get there and 3 what to do and what specialities you will find there.
This site is a growing entity, we will be updating it regularly and we are
actively searching comments and ideas. Please do not hesitate to get in touch
with us if you think that we've missed something out or have something wrong.
Enough about us. Now, about the SOUTH WEST OF FRANCE:
The
South West covers the French departements of Pyrenees Atlantiques (64),
Hautes Pyrenees (65), Gers (32); Landes (40) and South West Haute Garonne
(31). But perhaps the older names of Pays Basque, Béarn, Bigorre,
Armagnac, Gascony, Chalosse and Comminges make more sense to you?
The South West is famous for the coastal resorts of
Biarritz, once a favourite holiday spot for British royaty, Saint-Jean-de-Luz,
Capbreton, Hossegor and Vieux Boucau; and also the major towns of Lourdes,
still a major destination for pilgrims, Auch, Tarbes, Pau and Dax; but it is
also the host to many charming medieval villages, mountain streams,
breathtaking views and lovely valleys.
For the more sporting, the real
South West is famous particularly for Golf, Fishing and Skiing - the first golf
courses in continental Europe, the best Salmon and Trout rivers in France and
the Pyrenees skiing slopes. But there are also many other sporting and leisure
activities from Casinos to Thermal spas; world famous and local cuisine, wines
and, of course, Armagnacs; there are also listings of Sites & Events in
over 150 towns and villages in the real South West - enough to satisfy the most
discerning visitor.
