An attractive village high up in a Pyrénéen valley straddling a small river, a tributary of the Nive, which is crossed by an old `Roman' bridge - in fact built in the 17th century.
Being close to the Spanish border the vallaey was the scene of considerable rivalry between the inhabitants of the `Baigorry' and their neighbours in the Erro valley on the other side of the border.
